Project Architect

Peoria, IL – (1) Open position

IDG+ Architects is looking for a recognized practitioner who possesses strong design and technical abilities to proficiently manage implementation documentation. The successful candidate must effectively manage the firm’s resources (people, processes, and tools) and assignments, while demonstrating fluency and aptitude. They must also be able to teach and mentor staff, as well as embody the firm’s values and mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead consultants and technical teams to facilitate effective execution of project design and delivery of implementation documents.
  • Work with PIC/PM to develop and manage the production schedule, including defining and meeting deadlines effectively.
  • Prepare, review, and coordinate implementation documents before release, ensuring that they comply with QA/QC and IDG+ standards, best practices, and quality expectations.
  • Manage technical resolution and coordination for projects.
  • Lead the development of code analysis and verify that code and zoning requirements for the project are met.
  • Coordinate design group interaction, both internally and externally, including leading consultant team work sessions.
  • Coordinate with project managers, clients, public agencies, consultants, and contractors to incorporate engineering systems, respond to requests for information, clarifications, and modifications, obtain approvals, and adjust the scope of services.
  • Perform product research and assist project designers with materials and systems evaluation to make proper selections.
  • Oversee the appropriate application of products and materials available on the market and best practices.
  • Lead team meetings to discuss project issues, technical issues, and coordination with other disciplines.
  • Attend on-site visits, field reviews, project meetings, and document as appropriate.
  • Responsible for preparing and/or reviewing meeting minutes for consultant coordination meetings.
  • Actively invest in staff professional development through mentoring, performance management, and career planning.
  • Resolve conflicts effectively and encourage a healthy team environment.
  • Promote the firm’s principles through the integration of responsible and sustainable design practice within design.
  • Understand fundamental accounting principles and the project accounting process.
  • Deliver a project within defined budget requirements.
  • Maintains accountability to project plan and planned utilization rate.
  • Understands the contract and recognizes the need for additional services.

Qualifications:

  • Accredited professional degree in Architecture or equivalent in education or experience.
  • Architectural Registration required; strongly preferred.
  • 5-8+ years of experience.
  • Sustainable design accreditation preferred.
  • Firsthand and sustained experience in all phases of architectural design and construction.
  • Familiarity with architectural software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and 3D modeling software; parametric design and performance analysis software preferred.
  • Experience with MS Office Suite, including Microsoft Project and Microsoft Teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of sustainability and integrated design guidelines.
  • Advanced knowledge of architectural building systems, constructability, accessibility guidelines, and QA/QC process.
  • Advanced knowledge of building codes and experience incorporating them into implementation documents.

IDG+ Architects is looking for a talented Project Manager to join our team. A primary managerial position in a specific project and shares responsibility for project successes. Recognized ability to impact revenue and growth. Manages the firm’s resources (people, processes and tools) and assignments with proficiency, fluency and aptitude. Teaches and mentors staff and effectively embodies and expresses the firm’s values and mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the primary client relationship for respective projects, building and strengthening connections through a comprehensive understanding of their project mission, goals, policies, needs, and progress.
  • Manages the execution and delivery of implementation documents through all phases of a project, including post-occupancy evaluation and sharing/harvesting lessons learned and project impact.
  • Collaborates on the design process, including programming client needs, conceptual and schematic design, design development, document preparation, and construction administration.
  • Coordinates project team interaction both internally and with all other project participants.
  • Manages the project team in collaboration with other disciplines to establish design solutions that can be technically implemented within the constraints of the project goals, budgets, available time, and within local ordinances and codes.
  • May lead client presentations and public hearings as needed.
  • Monitors the project to anticipate potential risks and collaborates with the PIC, legal team, and client to resolve issues.
  • Holds the project team responsible for detailed code and zoning analysis, performance analysis, and deliverables based on IDG+ standards, best practices, and quality expectations.
  • Collaborates in project meeting management, including scheduling, determining meeting purpose, preparing agendas and meeting reports, and maintaining an action items log on a regular basis.
  • Attends on-site visits and field reviews as necessary.

  • Builds, updates, and executes the project schedule, ensuring that deliverables are completed on time and aligned with the budgeted labor; recalibrates as necessary.
