Innovative Collegiate Design
The collegiate environment is one charged with expectation, discovery and innovation.
The IDG team creates dynamic learning spaces by organizing the requirements of the facility and deploying them through innovative strategies that reflect the unique culture of each institution. With this approach we give instructors the tools and spaces to meet the academic needs of tomorrow’s leaders.
Houston Community Colleges
Our community centered design provides about 1,000 students and staff with classrooms, multipurpose dining room with a platform stage, a music room, science and art rooms, and specialized areas in both levels. All classrooms come off a long central corridor that resembles a spine.
To make the most of available space, the central corridor curves in the middle of the building, creating a large circular space that houses the library. The library features a large, circular reading area, computer workstations for pupils and ceiling-mounted projectors for theater style teaching.
The classrooms are bright, cheery and provide many sensory and tactile learning stations that the children rotate through each day.

Star Ginger
Normal, Illinois is home to the Illinois State University Cardinals. The Student Bone Center on campus was under major renovation. IDG was asked to provide a new eating option for the existing food court.
The impetus for the change was to create healthy eating options on campus.
The 1,400 S.F. take-away restaurant is made of two simple components, the kitchen, and the serving counter. Proprietary information used by Star Ginger along with coordinated design solutions allowed maximum use of efficient space and production workflow.
